What Are The Benefits of Blown-in Insulation?

When you picture insulation you might think about rolled insulation. For years the most common way to apply insulation to a home was to take insulation materials, cut them into panels, and attach them to the inside of your home. But there is another way to handle insulation. Blown-in insulation sends small amounts of insulation material throughout a property using a fan distribution method. This has a few key advantages over rolled-in insulation. In this article we will cover the benefits of blown-in insulation, if you own a property in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, or Maine and are interested in learning more about insulation services, please contact our team.

The Blown-in Insulation Installation Process Is Easier

Rolled insulation requires insulation to be cut and fitted into a specific shape throughout a property. It often requires the removal of sections of walls as well. Blown-in insulation is easily distributed throughout a property using blowers. This is especially effective for complex spaces that are irregularly shaped or have curves.

Blown-In Insulation Provides Better Coverage

With rolled insulation, there are inherent gaps between pieces of insulation no matter how well you place them. This is especially true when you are dealing with odd angles, curves, or other irregular areas of a property. With blown-in insulation, the material can more accurately cover the entire property’s layout providing better insulation for that property.

Pest Control and Fire Resistance

Many blown-in insulation materials are designed to do more than just keep your home at a consistent temperature. Most materials are treated with deterrents for pests and fire retardants. Again, rolled insulation often has natural gaps, so even if the material has the same advantages it might be easier for pests to infiltrate through the cracks between one piece of insulation and the next piece of insulation. Blown-in insulation is seamless so the protective qualities are seamless as well.

Blown-in insulation is Cost Effective

Blown-in insulation is often easier to install and takes less time to install compared to rolled insulation. Because rolled insulation has to be shaped, there is a lot of time wasted on taking measurements, cutting the insulation materials, and placing the insulation. With blown-in, the process is much faster and therefore often more cost-effective.
